Want to know more about the heroic pilot making headlines for landing a crippled commercial jet in New York's Hudson River?
According to his company's Web site, Captain Chesley B. "Sully" Sullenberger, III is a former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot with over 40 years of flying experience. His site says he's also served as an instructor and Air Line Pilots Association safety chairman, accident investigator and national technical committee member.
Sullenberger and his crew made a successful emergency water-landing Thursday mere minutes into a U.S. Airways flight from New York to Charlotte when, according to the Associated Press, the plane's engines were apparently disabled after colliding with a flock of birds. All 155 people on board survived.
