A truly great song. She had a couple of fantastic singles on the Red Bird label (I think).
Chip "the hit maker" Taylor wrote it. She sang a bunch of his songs besides "I can't let go". Not a red bird girl though.
'take me for a little while' also Chip was on chess as was 'I can't let go'. Chip Taylor wrote 'wild thing' and is actor Jon Voight's brother!
Chess, eh? I could've sworn I have a Redbird 4 disc collection with one or two (including this) of her singles on it. You're probably right.
I was tour managing a band called Hem (from Brooklyn) a few years ago - the drummer is friendly with Evie. She came to see us out in LA and I got to met her. She was a sweetheart and still quite a looker!
